The Academy will hold two sessions for 2008.
Applicants must be between 15-18 years of age.

Session 1 – June 22nd – July 6th
Session 2 – July 27th – August 10th

Teachers interested in forming school groups can receive
airfare and a stipend for their participation in the Academy.

How to apply – Fill out the Student Application Form and the Essay Form and fax them to 703-631-5282. Forms must be accompanied by a $75 non-refundable application fee payable by credit card. 

After your forms have been reviewed you will be contacted by a representative from the Academy about acceptance. Upon acceptance participants and parents of participants will be asked to complete the health forms and sign the Academy Consent Form.
                                                                           
Application Deadline – April 1st

Fees – $4,389 (not including Airfare) Price includes all room, board, food, travel and ground expenses. Students who are accepted will have until May 1st to complete the balance.

Financial aid is available through the Summer Leadership Academy of West Africa's Scholarship Fund.

Travel – Airfare can be arranged individually or through the Academy. Chaperoned flights on specific dates and with specific airlines will be provided. The Academy cannot assume responsibility for students travelling separately but all arrangements will be made for the participants to be met at the terminal of arrival in Dakar. Direct flights are available from the France, New York, and Atlanta as well as other international airports.
